Facts1991 (J reg) Ford Escort 1.6 Ghia Cabriolet. This car was bought with money received for my 21st Birthday, in August 2004. It had a lot of goodies including; power hood, electric windows, electric mirrors, power steering, Pipercross induction kit, Piper cam, lowered suspension, strut brace and an adonised exhaust loud enough to wake the neighbours! However it was all too good to be true as in October 2004 the car was broken into. The thief decided to slash the roof to try and gain entry to the car, obviously this didn't work so a window was smashed instead. The stereo was stolen and the thief tried to "hot-wire" the car but was disturbed. The insurance company declared the car a total-loss since they would have had to replace the roof, ignition barrel, locks etc in order to repair the car. So the dream of owning a convertible was short lived to say the least! Everything has now turned out for the best as I was able to use the insurance payout to put towards purchasing an excellent example of a Series 2 Escort RS Turbo.
